Persectives from Montana
"I remember being in Billings as a little kid, I was in a grocery store. I saw a black man...
I said, 'Wow, that's a black man.' It occurred to me that that was the first black man I'd ever seen in Montana."
The Washington Post, does a great article and photo essay about the residents of central Montana, one of the lease racially diverse areas of the country, on how they feel about Presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Good read.
That's a good read. Thanks!
cool photo and I bet the guy didn't like that or probably got a kick out of you if he had a sense of humor since you were a kid. I remember my little boy was into saying to every man he saw,"daddy?" and when we said it to a black man in the produce we both got a kick out of it.
I really enjoyed that article... it shows how ridiculous the media and movies can be for a group of people.
i wonder how they would feel about us yella folk, since we're not depicted in the same way on tv as african americans are. and hopefully people will vote based on the issues/policies that are important to them rather than race. an impossible hope, unfortunately
@jillcarmel - That was a quote from the article. Click on the picture or the link to go read the article from the Washington Post. I found it pretty interesting.
@AlabasterAndChrome - What intrigued me more was how a group can be so isolated. Much like reading about the un-contacted tribes living in the deep rainforests or creatures from the bottom of the sea. Montana on a map seems so close yet culturally it seems worlds away.
@mercyless1 - We should hop a flight over to there and find out!
@streetphotos - yes, and I clicked on and enjoyed the dogs/cats photos too.
